The amenities are fantastic. It seems that the Missouri Department of Nature Resources went all out on them. The camp has a wide variety of picnic spots and activities. The welcome center is nicer than some National Parks. The camping area has a number of car and camper spots, with clean and modern showers and bathrooms. The loops and hiking trails in the area are fantastic, and they offer a wide variety of views. The spots by the Black River are particularly nice. The Scour trail has a good view of the reservoir.

Love this place! Have for decades. Fav place in all MO state parks. Get down among the whirlpools, nooks & crannies in the waterway. Swim in the deep pools. See tadpoles, lizards, visit with others. Go around the bend to escape the crowds.

We loved this place so much. Really cool and beautiful. Take care because you could literally die here, no joke. Stick to the main areas and move cautiously. A great memory for my family.

Good clean fun for the family. Wear good water shoes and protect any valuables you don't want to get wet. I took a gallon zip lock bag for my phone, billfold and wife's cigarettes and lighter. It was 95° the day we were there. Everyone wanted to come to the Shut-Ins but nobody wanted to leave. Such a fun place.

We tent camped with the kids two nights at the campground and had a great time. The facilities were nice and clean there's a playground for the kids to play at. Make sure to get down to the lower swimming hole in case you like to jump off of some small rocks maybe 10 to 15 ft above the water. On our second day since it was so close we visited Elephant Rock State Park which is also really cool.
